Grossesse
Our team of family physicians specializing in perinatal care will be pleased to support you during this important stage of your life, whether it be for your pregnancy follow-up at the clinic, for your delivery at LaSalle Hospital, for your breastfeeding or, in some cases, for the follow-up of your baby.

How does it work?
Our pregnancy care service is available to all pregnant patients who require follow-up. There is no need to already have a family physician at the clinic to benefit from this service. You also do not need to live in the area.
We accept all requests for pregnancy follow-up, regardless of gestational age, as long as you plan to deliver at LaSalle Hospital, where our obstetric physicians have been supporting their patients for over 10 years.
To be followed for your pregnancy by one of our family physicians trained in perinatal care, simply call the clinic at 514-798-2228.
For patients already registered with a family physician at GMF Espace Santé IDS, it is also possible to book an appointment through the RVSQ platform.
An appointment with one of our three obstetric physicians will be scheduled as soon as possible, starting at 6 weeks of pregnancy (calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period).

We offer personalized and safe pregnancy follow-up, during which we take the time to explain how the delivery unit works and to answer your questions and concerns during this important period of your life.
When you call to initiate your pregnancy care, our administrative staff will assign you to one of us for longitudinal follow-up:

Dr. Annie Beaudoin
-
Dr. Catherine Bérubé
-
Dr. Julie Désalliers
You may request follow-up with the physician of your choice, especially if we have already had the pleasure of caring for you during a previous pregnancy or if you were referred to us.

How does pregnancy follow-up work?
A normal pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks, starting on the first day of your last period, until the expected delivery date.
We are pleased to offer you longitudinal monitoring with the same attending physician throughout your pregnancy. These visits take place at the Espace Santé IDS clinic.
The frequency of follow-ups varies, but generally proceeds as follows:
:
-A first visit around 6 weeks of pregnancy for the initial assessment;
-A monthly visit for the period between the 12th and 28th week of pregnancy;
-A visit every 2 weeks for the period between the 28th and 36th week of pregnancy;
-A weekly visit for the period between the 37th and 40th week of pregnancy.
Visits to LaSalle Hospital will be necessary for:
-Have certain blood tests done – particularly at the beginning of pregnancy (between the 6th and 12th week) and for screening for gestational diabetes (between the 26th and 28th week).
-Have your ultrasounds done – especially at the beginning of pregnancy to confirm the expected date of your delivery (between the 6th and 12th week), to assess the morphology of your baby (between the 20th and 24th week), and sometimes, to assess the growth or position of your baby (between the 32nd and 36th week).
-If needed, starting from the 20th week of pregnancy, you can contact the Family Birthing Unit directly at any time for any emergency or concern related to your pregnancy. Simply call: 514-362-8000 – extension 31801.
For high-risk pregnancies and certain pregnancy-related issues (gestational diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, gestational hypertension, etc.), the GARE clinic offers consultation services with a second-line team comprised of our gynecologist, internist, nurse, nutritionist, and anesthesiologist colleagues. You can maintain your follow-up care with your doctor at the Espace Santé clinic while also benefiting from the expertise of the doctors at the GARE clinic should the need arise during your pregnancy.

How does delivery work?
Although you will be followed by the same primary physician throughout your pregnancy at the clinic, it is possible that a different physician may be present on the day of your delivery. Our team operates on an integrated on-call system to ensure your safety and continuity of care, both at the clinic and in the hospital.
Our physicians each take part in a variable number of on-call shifts in the delivery unit, meaning there is approximately a 1 in 7 to 1 in 10 chance that your own physician will be present when your baby decides to arrive. Like you, we always hope to be on call to share this special moment with you.
That said, all members of our team share the same philosophy and approach to care. If one of our colleagues is present for your delivery, you can expect the same level of respect and quality of care.
In the event of a cesarean section or if complications arise requiring specialized care, obstetricians/gynecologists from the Birthing Unit are available on-site at all times for emergency support.

Why choose LaSalle Hospital?
LaSalle Hospital’s Birthing Unit welcomes approximately 3,600 deliveries each year and is well known for its patient- and family-centered approach, promoting care that respects the natural physiology of childbirth.
The Family Birthing Unit offers a LDRP model (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum), allowing families to remain in the same private room throughout their entire stay. Therapeutic baths and various tools to support you during active labor (exercise ball, support bar, mirror, etc.) are available if needed, in addition to epidural anesthesia administered by the on-call anesthesiologist when requested.
The unit includes 42 private rooms, as well as an operating room available for both planned and emergency cesarean sections.
Patients have access to a wide range of collaborating specialists (family physicians, obstetricians/gynecologists, internists, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians), as well as a high-risk pregnancy clinic (GARE), a breastfeeding clinic, and a pediatric clinic with neonatal intensive care services (from 32 weeks gestation).
